Frank Sekura

1945 - 2024

Frank John Sekura, beloved husband of Ann Sekura, passed away in Taber on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the age of 78 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 A.M.

Frank is survived by his wife Ann; children Jason (Roxanne) Sekura of High River, Jim (Jodene) Sekura of Taber, Chris Sekura of Australia and Rob (Charlene) Sekura of High River; grandchildren Ethan, Gracyn and Emmit Sekura of High River; Ashley, Maddison and Blake Sekura of Australia; Paige Sekura of High River. He is also survived by his siblings Elizabeth Bandelow, Theresa (Don) Maxwell, Mary (Blair) Wagner and Virginia (Bud) Lewis as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

 He was predeceased by his parents Frank Sr. and Elizabeth Sekura; brother Joe Sekura; sister-in-law Mary Sekura; brother-in-law Karl Bandelow.

Frank was born and raised in Taber, spending his life farming east of town. After graduating from St. Mary's School in 1963, Frank married Ann Leeb from Medicine Hat in 1969. Together, they raised four boys on their farm.

Frank had many interests. He enjoyed playing broomball and commercial hockey in his younger years. Later, he developed a passion for community theatre, acting and directing , even having a play he had written performed by the Taber Players theatre group. A significant moment for him was participating in the Drumheller Passion Play in 2016.

A devoted fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Frank often travelled with friends to games and Grey Cups. In his later years, he cherished conversations with his grandchildren and took great pride in their achievements.

Frank will be remembered for his hard work, love for his family, his compassionate nature in connecting with friends and providing support to those in need.
